The history of Mordu begins with a meeting between Bastien Leclerc and Nicolas Paradis, brought together by a mutual friend. Leclerc had been directing operations at Bar Romain, a lively establishment near Olympia.
A graduate of Ensam (now Arts et Métiers Paris Tech) and Essec (the Paris business school), Paradis stood out from the crowd 15 years ago when he launched his wine school, then the wine bar at Ô Château, which became the go-to destination for budding oenologists.
More recently Nicolas Paradis founded the Caves du Louvre. It was an immediate recognition of faith for these two wine disciples. With so much in common, they were impelled to construct an edifice built on congeniality, the love of good food, and goodwill to all.
Having fallen under the spell of Baptiste Trudel’s cuisine, they went to his restaurant on the Right Bank in the east of the city, from which they « evicted » him.
They then got even their wives involved, working front-of-house or on the decor, as well roping in numerous old hands from their other establishments. You might say that the whole family is now a part of the big adventure!
